Social network disputes include, but are not limited to, (i) disputes between users of a social network and the operator of the social network as well as (ii) disputes between users of social networks. Since we deal mainly with disputes from the first category, we will focus only on this type of disputes.
Such disputes are characterized by the inequality in the bargaining power between the parties. Social network operators are usually large corporations who can afford numerous excellent lawyers to defend them in court proceedings. In turn, the users of the social networks are often people who cannot afford to invest a substantial amount of money in legal proceedings and, therefore, they are unlikely to proceed with litigation, irrespective of whether they have valid legal grounds to sue the relevant social network operator.
Another important feature of social network disputes is that it may be difficult for the user of the social network to contact the operator of the social network as many operators do not reply to dispute-related emails or reply with a delay. That is why disputants are encouraged to contact dispute resolution specialists, such as SN Fighters, when they cannot enter into a contact with the relevant social network operator. We may have previous contacts with the operator (e.g., with the law firm representing the operator) and may be able to contact the operator on your behalf.
It is worth mentioning that, even if you contact the social network operator, you may communicate with a clerk who will not have any decision making power and will refuse to take any position with regard to the dispute at stake. If you contact us, we may be able to escalate the dispute to a higher level manager who has the capacity able to resolve the dispute in your interest.
